Superbike Concepts by Sak_Art Design

Superbike Concepts
Sak_Art Design Consulting Studio is one of those establishments that a hardcore superbike gearhead dreams about working at. Based in Cascina, Italy (naturally) Sak_Art dreams up stylish concepts to be implemented into motorcycle manufacturing.
The studio is devoted to the styling, aerodynamics, and functionality demanded by superbike design and their creations are intended to move racing engineering forward. Thus far they seem to be invested purely in paper with no real motorcycles rolling out of their workshop as of yet.
The studio's latest concept is the SHAKTI (which translates roughly to; sacred force or empowerment). The Shakti is a superbike concept that Sak_Art desires to use as their calling card in the motorcycle design world.
They are hoping their concept will be embraced by a major motorcycle manufacturer with the idea of transforming the machine into reality and getting it onto a track.
The Shakti starts with an in-line three-cylinder 1000cc powerplant-which would make it unique in the class. Sak_Art wraps the engine with a carbon "ribbon" which is their styling brand, so to speak.
The design cues are intended to carry through from the tail section (with its distinctive three exhaust tips), through the middle, and into the beak nose of the fairing and bodywork. At the front is an air induct that accentuates a diamond headlight.

2011 Ducati Monster 1100 (S) | Preview

2011 Monster 1100
When designing the ultimate naked motorcycle, Ducati gave their biggest available Monster everything they could, including their 95 hp, two-valve 1100cc L-Twin engine.
The legendary Desmodromic motor is wrapped in a compact frame that's designed to comfortably retain all the torque and deliver smooth acceleration. The 1100 model is the only one in the Monster family that utilizes Ducati's iconic single-sided swingarm.
For 2011, the Monster 1100 is updaged with a new sub-frame ready to accept passenger-friendl grab-rails sold from Ducati Performance, and an S version is available, which includes Öhlins forks. Both the standard and S version are available with ABS.
Monster 1100: Desmodromic Charisma
The Monster 1100 power unit is the legendary 1100cc, air-cooled, Dual Spark L-Twin engine whose 95hp gives it that unmistakable Ducati sound.
Developed for an incredibly flexible power delivery, the 1100 Desmodromic engine provides the rider with enough torque to exit the most challenging of corners in pure sports style.
The impressive 10.5kgm (75.9lb-ft) of torque, typical of the Ducati L-Twin engines, excites with every twist of the throttle.
The two-valve engine on the Monster 1100 features lightweight crankcases produced using the same innovative Vacural technology that Ducati first introduced on the Superbike 848 and achieves significant weight saving while ensuring consistent wall thickness and increased strength.
The 1100 engine boasts a 98mm bore and a 71.5mm stroke, delivering 95hp at 7500rpm and an impressive torque of 10.5kgm (79.5lb-ft) at 6000 rpm.
To underline the sports character of the bike, the new Monster 1100 is fitted with Ducati's very own dry clutch, which offers a variety of customization options with the Ducati Performance accessories.
The Monster 1100 has a specially designed exhaust system featuring an electronically controlled exhaust valve that enables the use of silencers similar to those of the 696.
The system has one lambda probe dedicated to each cylinder, enabling precise fuelling for a smoother power delivery while complying with current emission regulations.
Monster 1100: Chassis / Suspension
The Trellis frame, developed in conjunction with Ducati Corse uses the same tube diameter and thickness as the 1198 SP. The brand new lightweight aluminum sub-frame maintains visual continuity with the aluminum footrest hangers and swingarm, and now accepts the passenger-friendly grab-rail kit available from Ducati Performance.
The kit further enhances passenger ride comfort without compromising the Monster's stylish lines.
The 43mm fully adjustable Showa forks and Sachs rising-rate rear suspension unit, with adjustable spring pre-load and return damping, offer sufficient personalization to suit all riding styles and provide that perfect ‘feel.'
The steeply angled rear unit compresses in a movement non-linear to the rear swingarm radius, which achieves progressive characteristics, enables easy access to the spring pre-load and rebound damping adjuster, and eliminates the weight of any rocker-arm mechanism.

CR&S DUU: Custom Motorcycles

There is anticipation in the motorcycling world for the presentation of the CR&S DUU, the new motorcycle from the Milanese workshops headed by Roberto Crepaldi, at the 69th Salone Internazionale del Ciclo e del Motociclo (International Motorcycle and Bicycle Salon) to be held from 2nd to 7th November at the Fiera di Milano.
The motorcycle will be presented in Pavilion 2, stand I 33.
Following the success of the concept motorcycle which appeared for the first time at the EICMA 2009, the curtain is now being raison on the "single-seater" and "two-seater" road versions of the techno-custom bike, made by hand and only made to measure, which pays tribute to the glorious mechanical tradition of the Lombard capital.
The concept of the CR&S DUU motorcycle, which is stated to enter production next year, was unanimously acclaimed by the public, critics and motorcycling press. The entire production for 2011 has already been booked, with over 130 reservations made.
The original design shows the bike's muscles, highlighting the new, powerful American two-litre X-Wedge "V-Twin" engine by S&S, mounted on a sporty chassis of European form, and it reflects the capacity to effect a perfect synthesis of the best of Western motorcycle traditions.
These characteristics have enabled the CR&S DUU to win a place at the MAD-Moto Arte Design, as being one of the motorcycle masterpieces of the past 50 years.

Sepang 125cc GP
Marc Márquez won from pole position at Sepang on Sunday to take over the leadership of the 125cc Championship by three points.
The Red Bull Ajo Motorsport rider led home a podium that was completed by Pol Espargaró (Tuenti Racing) and Nico Terol (Bancaja Aspar), who Márquez now replaces at the top of the championship standings.
Today's battle for the race win was fought out exclusively by the three riders at the top of the championship standings, despite a hard charge at midrace distance by their three teammates, Bradley Smith (Bancaja Aspar), Efrén Vázquez (Tuenti Racing) and Sandro Cortese (Avant Mitsubishi Ajo), that briefly saw six riders clear at the front of the race.
Terol, Márquez and Espargaró all led at one point as first position continued to swap hands. With six laps to go Márquez began to turn the screw and opened up a gap of almost a full second over Espargaró, setting a fastest lap of the race in the process.

Arizona Mile: AMA Flat Track Results

The 2010 AMA Pro K&N Filters Grand National Championship presented by Motorcycle-Superstore.com came to an action packed conclusion in front of a packed house at the Yavapai Downs, Arizona Mile in Prescott Valley, Ariz.
AMA Pro Racing crowned the first "Official" Grand National Champion in three when Zanotti Racing's Jake Johnson topped a hard fought twenty five lap main event.
Coming into the last round Johnson held a tenuous ten point lead over Latus Harley-Davidson / ENI R&D / Lloyd Brothers Motorsports' Joe Kopp.
The series was returning to the site of Kopp's and his potent Ducati's historic first Grand National win, but Kopp was unable to repeat the magic and was just off the pace all day.
Defending Grand National Twins Champion Jared Mees was also still in the hunt for the Grand National Title, but the Rogers Lake racing / Blue Springs Harley-Davidson backed rider would need some help.

For 2011, the Honda CBR600RR remains the same as 2010, but with new red/black and black paint schemes.
The machine is also available with Honda's Combined ABS, but only in Black. This C-ABS  is a true "brake-by-wire" design, which means that they are electronically controlled. Unlike conventional ABS, where the feel at the lever is soft due to hydraulic pressure, the C-ABS offers a more responsive brake-lever feel.
The CBR 600 has won more AMA championships than any other manufacturer, and for 2011 Honda releases a machine that offers a great balance of power and handling.
